Generator & Basement Locations
Generator Spawn Rules
- Every map has fixed generator spawn points, with 5 of 7 randomly selected each match
- Generators usually spawn inside buildings, open areas, and map edges
- Memorizing generator locations on commonly played maps significantly improves efficiency
Basement Locations
- Every map has one fixed basement location (some maps have 2 possible locations)
- The basement has 4 hooks and only one entrance
- Survivors hooked in the basement are extremely hard to rescue, as the killer can guard the entrance
- Common basement locations: building basements, factory ground floors, deep mine shafts
Killer-Favored vs Survivor-Favored Maps
🩸 Killer-Favored Maps
- Léry's Memorial Institute: many small indoor rooms, survivors struggle to transition
- Gideon Meat Plant: multi-level structure, killer can predict routes
- Coldwind Farm: open with no cover, survivors easily detected
- Hawkins Laboratory: complex underground structure, survivors easily get lost
🏃 Survivor-Favored Maps
- Haddonfield (Lampkin Lane): classic looping map, many houses and pallets
- Autohaven Wreckers: dense obstacles, easy to shake the killer
- Mount Ormond Resort: many buildings and windows, easy transitions
- MacMillan Estate: reasonable pallet distribution, large looping space
General Map Tactics
Survivor Tactics
- Memorize the map at spawn: observe your surroundings after spawning, note the nearest pallet zones and windows
- Choose safe generators: prioritize repairing near pallets and windows, away from the basement
- Plan escape routes: while repairing, already think about where to run if the killer comes
- Use terrain advantages: loop in pallet zones you're familiar with, don't run into unfamiliar areas
- Communicate generator progress: use quick messages to tell teammates which generators are nearly done
Killer Tactics
- Patrol high-progress generators: remember which generators are being repaired and prioritize returning to them
- Use narrow passages: predict survivor routes at doorways and corridors
- Control the basement: if the basement is nearby, try to hook survivors on basement hooks
- Block key pallet zones: break key pallets to reduce survivor looping space
- Use map sound effects: different maps have different ambient sounds — learn to distinguish repair sounds from ambient noise
